“I entered the market as an illustrator having developed my style of images with black outlines and flat colour, which proved popular with advertisers and magazines from the outset.
After I had been illustrating for about 10 years, Design Magazine commissioned me to do a cover. When the Art Director came to the studio to pick up the artwork he noticed a painted rough I had produced for another job. He admired it and asked if he could see my rough of his cover illustration. I showed it to him and he decided immediately that he would print the roughs the cover.
Afterwards I was inundated with commissions for this new ‘fluid’ style.”
